MTU derives from Motoren- und Turbinen-Union meaning “Motor (Engine) and Turbine Union”. The company manufactures diesel engines for trains, ships, oil and gas installations, military vehicles, agriculture, mining and construction equipment, as well as diesel generators and molten carbonate fuel cells.

Deutz AG is a German internal combustion engine manufacturer, based in Porz, Cologne, Germany. The company was founded by Nicolaus Otto and his partner Eugen Langen on 31 March 1864, as N. A. Otto & Cie, later renamed to Gasmotoren-Fabrik Deutz after moving operations to Deutz in 1869. Otto was the inventor of the four-stroke internal combustion engine. Isuzu has assembly and manufacturing plants in Fujisawa which has been there since the company was founded under earlier names, as well as in the Tochigi and Hokkaidō prefectures.
